Founded in response to a life-altering event—the loss of a friend in the icy waters of the St. Lawrence Seaway. This incident ignited a mission to create the world’s safest and most capable ice airboats, 1000 Island Airboats was built on the commitment to safety, reliability, and innovation. Today, we carry that purpose forward with every vessel we manufacture—leveraging advanced materials, rugged construction, and mission-driven design.

Each 1000 Island Airboat is constructed with a six-stringer design coupled with our proprietary layup composite hull and embedded flotation, offering enhanced buoyancy and durability under challenging conditions. A 3/8” virgin UHMW polymer bottom provides exceptional abrasion resistance—especially valuable during operations over ice, debris, or shallow terrain. These features contribute to overall operational integrity but should always be used in conjunction with qualified operators and established safety procedures.

Power is supplied by a marinized, EPA-compliant Standard GM LSX engine (520 HP), selected for their high power-to-weight ratio, reliability, and reduced emissions. Our vessels also feature a proprietary hydraulic ice brake system that assists in freeing the boat from ice—a useful advantage during winter rescue scenarios. However, all equipment performance may vary based on environmental factors, and operator judgment remains critical.

Crews benefit from integrated winter-ready features, including a fully enclosed canvas cabin, 40,000 BTU cabin heater with defrost, suspension seating, in-boat communication systems, Thermal Imagery Cameras, amongst others, these design elements help maintain crew comfort and situational awareness during prolonged or extreme-weather deployments.

Our airboats have been selected by emergency services, municipal agencies, and federal entities across North America and Canada for their versatility, durability, and performance in complex operational environments. While no boat can eliminate all risk, 1000 Island Airboats are engineered to support crews who face it head-on.
